During our last part of the water lab we used EMB agar plate . Main reason is to use water quality , distinguish coliform and focal that signal possible pathogenic microorganism contamination in our water samples. EMB plates are great for selective stain for Gram-negative bacteria , it contains dyes that are toxic to Gram-positive bacteria . EMB is the selective and differential medium for coliforms .
